Docker just expanded its “Docker Sandboxes” idea into **Cloud Sandboxes**—moving isolated Docker-ready sandboxes from your machine to cloud compute. If you’ve ever used an AI coding agent to do a multi-hour refactor, test marathon, or heavy validation cycle, this is the fix: your agent can keep running in the cloud while you step away, and you only return when the next milestone is ready. The big promise is **offline, no interruption**. Local sandboxes used to get interrupted by sleep, shutdown, or network hiccups. Now the workload is offloaded to cloud sandboxes, so disconnecting doesn’t stop progress. Isolation stays consistent: each sandbox runs as its own small VM with its own Linux kernel, filesystem, networking, and Docker backend services. The agent can install dependencies, run commands, and start containers—while only accessing project directories you explicitly mount. Bonus: **sandbox migration (sbx move)** saves the filesystem into a new container image. Running memory/process state isn’t carried over, and mounts/secrets/network rules must be reconfigured on the destination. Supports preset AI agent environments (Claude Code, Codex, Copilot, etc.), MCP integrations (Jira/Linear/Grafana), and usage-based pricing. Upgrade to **sbx 0.45.1+**. Local Docker Sandboxes remain free. #Docker #AIProgramming #CloudComputing #DevOps #Sandboxing
