Agentic AI is sweeping into enterprises—and it’s not just “answering questions” anymore. These AI agents can break down tasks, pick tools, call APIs, and—if permissions allow—execute real system actions: writing code, sorting email, moving files, managing accounts. Speed is amazing… but the risk evolves too. It used to be a wrong sentence. Now it can be a wrong action. And many companies don’t even know what they’ve deployed. “Shadow AI” agents may already be running as plugins or standalone services, with access to local files, system execution, inboxes, or cloud login tokens. The intention is productivity. The unintended outcome is a new attack path—especially when an agent makes a bad judgment or its permission scope is too broad. Humans often won’t have time to intervene. The tipping point vs. chatbots is simple: can it execute an action chain across steps and carry goals forward? Recent incidents show the cost when permission isolation and human approval for destructive actions are missing. Fix it with four moves: inventory agents/tools, give each agent a distinct identity, enforce least privilege + approval for high-risk actions, and keep auditable logs + continuous monitoring. #AgenticAI #AIAgents #Cybersecurity #AIgovernance #LeastPrivilege #Auditability
