A Taiwanese restaurant chain, Anxin (1259), just posted a major notice after receiving reports from a small number of consumers. The issue: some customers said they were contacted via email by a third party who claimed to have obtained their personal data. Anxin says it investigated and believes the data likely came from an outsourced “vendor management platform,” not from the company’s own internal systems. The timing lines up with feedback received around early October, when customers reported being approached shortly after the alleged access. The company says it has already instructed the relevant vendor to start remediation immediately—implementing patches, improvements, and contingency measures to prevent the risk from spreading. Importantly, Anxin clarified this incident is not related to its own MOS ordering app. In other words, the weak point appears to be in the supply-chain/vendor platform’s security and permission controls. Anxin is also strengthening anti-scam messaging on its website and app. It recommends consumers stay alert to emails or calls claiming “we got your data,” verify official channels, and avoid clicking suspicious links. #DataSecurity #CyberRisk #ScamAwareness #VendorManagement #PrivacyProtection #FinTechNews
