At dawn in Yanping Township, Taitung, the ocean looked like an unpolished mirror—each wave tapping my earbone, but somehow no one else was answering. I woke up before the light was fully on, walked along the quieter seawall, and felt the cold salt creep up through my shoes as soft sand gave way beneath my feet. The sky stayed low and heavy, but the sea shifted first: black → ink-blue → a thin, cold line of brightness. Wind moved like someone lifting and folding a wet cloth. First came the salt in my nose, then that wet, briny sweetness—followed by the earthy smell of mud waking up. What I heard wasn’t one wave, but a stretched, breaking sound with pauses during the retreat. Those pauses made me listen harder, like even my breathing had been swapped for the ocean’s rhythm. Someone told me the hidden hour: 5–6 AM, when you loop a bit inside the seawall near the breakwater. Side light slices the water, revealing waves’ layers—like the same words said with different emotion. I didn’t take many photos. I just put my palm into the wind and let the sea “talk” back. #Taitung #Yanping #TaiwanTravel #SunriseWalk #OceanVibes #SlowTravel
